What is Raspberry leaf tea?

Originally raspberry plants would have been growing wild in our hedgerows and along the edges of woodlands but early folk had the wisdom to cultivate this medicinal and culinary powerhouse. As with many plants there is more than meets the eye with our humble red raspberry bush and it is the leaves that have the most medicinal properties.
Raspberry leaves have been enjoyed by pregnant women from the earliest times.
So, what makes raspberry leaf so effective for pregnant women?

Raspberry leaves are a larder of nutrients and are a tonic for the entire body. They contain high levels of calcium, which acts on the nervous system and help to relieve pain.

Other beneficial nutrients for pregnant women include iron to maintain red blood cells, magnesium, manganese, niacin, selenium, phosphorus and potassium and also vitamins A, B, C and E.

An alkaloid called Fragarine is a key constituent of raspberry leaf, which helps to strengthen and tone the uterine muscles and the entire pelvic area. This is beneficial in pregnancy as it helps to prepare for labour and also encourages efficient contractions during birthing.

Drinking raspberry leaf tea in the last trimester of pregnancy helps to prepare for the memorable and emotionally supportive delivery of a new bundle of joy.

In preparation for birth drink one cup daily during the last two months of pregnancy and freely during labour. For the organised, make ice cubes, as these are particularly refreshing in case of lack of thirst. Raspberry leaf tea can also help with the expulsion of the afterbirth post delivery and will help to restore uterine and reproductive health and help to promote the flow of milk whilst breastfeeding.

What does the NHS says?

NHS recommend if you decide to take raspberry leaf tea, it’s recommended that you start when you are about 32 weeks pregnant, though not before. This will give enough time for it to build up in your body. Begin with one cup a day, gradually increasing to three cups. This power plant has the reputation to ‘tone and strengthen’ in preparation for labour.
The Raspberry leaf nutrients are beneficial to women during pregnancy and believed to help strengthen uterine muscles, tone the pelvic floor and encourage efficient contractions in preparation for labour and birth, also helping to decrease excess bleeding postpartum.

Delivery and Returns Information

Delivery  

Delivery is from as little as £3 to addresses within in the UK – and free when you spend over £50 on our products. We usually ship all goods within 24 hours on confirmation of your order and payment, once shipped your order will be marked as “completed” so you know it’s on its way.

If you’re in a hurry and you need something sooner please select Express Delivery and we’ll aim to get your delivery to within 1-2 days (if ordered before 2pm with Royal Mail Tracked 24 hour delivery) 

We use Royal Mail to send all of our deliveries and standard UK Delivery is usually within 2-3 working days, although during the Covid19 pandemic times may be longer. Deliveries to the rest of the EU may take longer.

International orders may be subject to additional customs charges.
Customs policies and import duties differ from country to country. Unfortunately we don’t know in advance  if items ordered by our customers will be subject to import duties, as they are only charged once the parcel reaches its destination country. If your parcel does incur an import charge, this must be paid by you, the recipient of the parcel. All orders outside of the UK need to be marked with the value of the items enclosed by law.

Returns

At Mellie Green we’re aware that it isn’t always easy buying clothes for your little ones online. We’re happy to exchange or refund purchases of any clothing within 28 days. We can either credit your account or refund directly through PayPal to your account. Please contact us at hello@melliegreenorganic.com stating your name and order number and we will await your return. Please note that we do not refund postage costs to return items unless they are faulty, but we may give you a credit to use against future purchases with Mellie Green.

All returns or refund items must be returned in a resaleable condition with all tags and labels attached. We reserve the right to refuse an exchange or refund for any items which are returned damaged or not in a resaleable condition. Unfortunately for reasons of hygiene we cannot exchange any underwear, tights or teethers unless faulty.

Cancellations

You have the right to cancel your order before it is shipped. If you need to do this please contact us as soon as possible at hello@melliegreenorganic.com and we will halt your order. Please note, if your order is marked as “complete” in your account then it may have already been processed and dispatched, if this is the case then please follow the returns information above.
